Franson Lane

Today we took a stroll on a “new to us” local trail on Oakley City property on the end of Franson Lane.

It’s pretty simple to find.  Head up Weber Canyon Road about 1.5 miles, turn right on Franson Lane and go down to the end of the road.  There is some space at the end of the cul de sac where we were able to park .  Pass thorough a couple of cattle gates and head down the hill to find a nice little gravel double track loop with an out and back spur.

Total trail length is a bit over a mile with the out and back , the loop itself is about 1/3 of a mile.  It’s a nice easy trail and worth checking out if you just need to get out onto a trail but don’t have the time to head off somewhere more wild.

Lake Solitude

Amber and I took a hike on Sunday in Big Cottonwood Canyon. We started at Brighton Ski Resort and went to Lake Solitude over at Solitude Ski Resort. Here’s the KMZ file for Google Earth if you’re interested in seeing where we went.

Below are some pictures from around Lake Solitude and yes that’s snow you see on July 2.
